Biden gives Ukraine green light to use US missiles in Russia
President Joe Biden has authorized Ukraine to use long-range US missiles against military targets inside Russia, according to multiple media reports. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has pushed for authorization from Washington to use ATACMS to hit targets inside Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that approval would mean that NATO was "at war" with his country -- a threat he has made previously when Ukraine's Western backers have escalated military assistance to Kyiv. The policy change comes as North Korean troops arrive in Russia.

Biden makes historic trip to Amazon ahead of G20 Summit
Joe Biden made the first trip to the Amazon rainforest by a sitting US president Sunday, but the historic visit was overshadowed by replacement Donald Trump's vows to roll back his environmental policies. Biden took an aerial tour of the Amazon ahead of the G20 Summit in Rio and COP29 climate conference in Azerbaijan. Trump has pledged to reverse Biden's policies and could pull the US out of international efforts to address global warming.

Johnson calls for Gaetz report to be buried

House Speaker Mike Johnson doubled down Sunday on his opposition to releasing an Ethics Committee report on former Rep. Matt Gaetz, President-elect Donald Trump's pick for attorney general. Johnson acknowledged that he didn't "have the authority to stop the release of a report by the Ethics Committee" but said that "we don't want to go down that road." The committee has been investigating Gaetz, a firebrand Florida Republican, since 2021 over allegations that include sexual misconduct and illicit drug use. It was reportedly set to vote Friday on whether to release a report of its findings but Gaetz resigned.
