Ford invests $3B in Super Duty pickup production in Canada
Ford announced Thursday it would invest $3 billion to expand production of its "Super Duty" pickup trucks at a Canadian factory, at which it has previously pushed back plans for electric vehicles. The announcement gives the US carmarker a third manufacturing center in North America from which to produce the giant pickup trucks, which have been a major profit driver in recent years.

Over 35,000 public service workers get student debt relief
President Joe Biden gave an additional 35,000 borrowers a break thanks to his administration's move that cancels $1.2 billion in student debt. Those who will benefit from the loan forgiveness are in public service, including nurses, teachers and first responders. In a statement, Biden said that the beneficiaries will now have "more breathing room to support themselves and their families."

Biden weighing his options under isolation

President Joe Biden holed up at his beach house Thursday -- battling both a bout of Covid and calls by senior allies for him to abandon his 2024 reelection bid -- as the 81-year-old president found himself in both personal and political isolation. Top Democrats, including Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries, reportedly have met with Biden to warn that his candidacy threatens his party's election prospects. Several Dems were quoted anonymously as saying that they believed the pressure would persuade Biden to tap out as soon as this weekend.

Multiple investigations are being launched into the failed assassination of former President Donald Trump at a campaign event in Butler, Pa.
