Israeli war cabinet minister Benny Gantz quit Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government on Sunday, heaping domestic pressure on the Israeli leader as the war in Gaza rages. The former general and defense minister resigned from the emergency body after failing to get a post-war plan for Gaza approved by Netanyahu, which he demanded in May. The departure marks the first major political blow to Netanyahu eight months into the Gaza war against Palestinian Hamas militants.

Macron calls early NA election after EU vote

French President Emmanuel Macron has taken the biggest gamble of his political career by calling early legislative elections to combat the surge of the far right, with the outcome decisive for his political legacy. France will go to the polls to vote for a new National Assembly on June 30 and July 7, Macron said in an address to the nation after EU election projections showed that the far-right National Rally had scored more than double the votes of his centrist alliance in the French vote.

'Call of Duty 6' among Microsoft's rollouts

Microsoft's Xbox team on Sunday showcased action-packed coming video games and a new digital-only version of its console to launch by the end of this year. Fans who tuned into the streamed event got a look at titles, including an long-awaited "Call of Duty: Black Ops 6," set for release on Oct. 25. The latest installment to the blockbuster first-person military shooter video game franchise is set in the post-Soviet 1990s.
