Biden slams ICC's bid for arrest warrants

President Joe Biden on Monday denounced an application by the International Criminal Court's prosecutor for an arrest warrant for Israel's prime minister and defense minister. Secretary of State Antony Blinken warned that efforts to secure a ceasefire in Israel's war on Hamas in Gaza could be harmed by the move by the court. The ICC is seeking arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, as well as top Hamas leaders, on suspicion of war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Iran mourns leaders' passing in tragic crash

Iranian president Ebrahim Raisi and eight others were confirmed dead on Monday after search and rescue teams found his crashed helicopter in a fog-shrouded western mountain region, sparking mourning in the Islamic republic. Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who has ultimate authority in Iran, declared five days of mourning in the Muslim nation and assigned vice president Mohammad Mokhber, 68, to assume Raisi's interim duties ahead of new elections within 50 days.

Baltimore cargo ship towed back to port

The cargo ship that collided with a Baltimore bridge nearly two months ago, collapsing it and killing six highway workers, was refloated Monday and towed back into port. Live TV images of the operation showed a flotilla of tugboats slowly pushing and towing the M/V Dali away from the remains of the shattered Francis Scott Key Bridge and towards a marine terminal. The Key Bridge Response Unified Command said the complex operation involved the Coast Guard.
