House to vote on military aid, TikTok ban

The US House of Representatives on Saturday will vote on a major aid package for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, and on a possible ban of TikTok. Nearly $61 billion of the $95 billion package is  earmarked for Ukraine's war against Russia. The bill would provide nearly $14 billion to train, equip and finance the needs of the Ukrainian army. Ukraine would also receive $10 billion in "forgivable loans" for vital economic and budgetary support, including the energy and infrastructure sectors.

US, UK put sanctions on Iran drone program

The US and UK announced widespread sanctions against Iran's military drone program on Thursday, in response to its weekend attack against Israel. Washington is targeting "16 individuals and two entities enabling Iran's UAV production, including engine types that power Iran's Shahed variant UAVs, which were used in the April 13 attack," the US said in a statement, referring to Iran's unmanned aerial vehicle program. In response to the attacks, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said his country reserves the right to protect itself.

Taylor Swift set to drop new album today

Taylor Swift is primed to release her highly anticipated record "The Tortured Poets Department" today, the 11th studio album from the megastar who is already having a blockbuster year. Swift announced the album's release at the Grammys in February, a night that saw the 34-year-old billionaire win a record-breaking fourth Album of the Year prize. And with the album set to drop in the United States at midnight Eastern Time (0400 GMT Friday), the artist could be on track for a fifth.
