Biden blasted for memory loss in docs case

A long-awaited report cleared President Joe Biden of any wrongdoing in his mishandling of classified documents Thursday but painted the 81-year-old as a "well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory." The report removed a cloud hanging over Biden as he seeks reelection in a contest expected to be against Donald Trump, who is facing a criminal trial for removing large amounts of secret documents from the White House. However, special counsel Robert Hur said his probe had found Biden had such mental issues that he could not remember key dates.

Senate Republicans to take up Ukraine aid

US senators cleared a first hurdle Thursday to a sweeping foreign aid package, including $60 billion for Ukraine, although opposition from Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump means final passage is far from guaranteed. The vote to consider the bill nevertheless was an about-face for Senate Republicans, who had refused to renew funding for Ukraine's fight against Russian invasion if Democrats didn't also agree to curbs on migrant surges across the US-Mexican border.
