Fighting rages on in Gaza despite UN ruling

Heavy fighting raged in Gaza Sunday amid a fierce row over the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees that has called its future into question. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called on donor states to guarantee the flow of vital aid to Gaza after several halted funding to the agency over Israeli claims that some staff participated in the October 7 attacks. The Israeli army on Sunday said special forces were continuing to engage in "intensive battles" in Gaza, where it said troops eliminated "terrorists and located large quantities of weapons".

Supporters of Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos and predecessor Rodrigo Duterte gathered for rival rallies on Sunday, with a battle over the country's constitution highlighting a deepening rift between the powerful clans. In the nearly two years since Marcos swept to victory with the help of his vice presidential running mate Sara Duterte -- the ex-president's daughter -- their so-called "Unity Team" has fractured.

Sinner comes back to win Aussie Open title

Jannik Sinner stormed back from two sets down on Sunday to beat Daniil Medvedev in a grueling five-set Australian Open final and win his first Grand Slam title. The fourth seed had no answer to the Russian's aggression in the first two sets but dug deep to win 3-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3 in three hours and 44 minutes. He collapsed to the floor following match point before returning to his feet to savor his moment of victory.
