Elders ask Biden to craft Mideast peace plan

US President Joe Biden should embrace a "historic opportunity" and deliver a peace plan between warring Israelis and Palestinians, but it must be a lasting political solution that "undermines extremists" on both sides, a group of independent global leaders known as The Elders, told Biden on Thursday. In an open letter, the Elders called for Biden's plan to be based on a two-state solution, but they stressed that "it must recognize the equal rights of Palestinians and Israelis."

Haley second to Trump in New Hampshire

Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley now is in second place among likely voters in the New Hampshire's Republican presidential primary, according to a CNN poll. Support to Haley jumped to 20% from 12% in September, the poll showed. Former President Donald Trump keeps a commanding lead with 42% of support, followed by former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie (14%), Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (9%), and tech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy (8%).

House Ethics Committee exposes Santos

Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.) announced Thursday he will not seek reelection for a second term in 2024 after the House Ethics Committee released a report saying that there is evidence he broke federal law. The HEC unanimously approved a report concluding that there is "substantial evidence" that Santos knowingly caused his campaign to file false or incomplete reports with the Federal Election Commission, used campaign funds for personal purposes, and other violations.
