US to call for tripling world's nuclear energy

The U.S. will sign a pledge to triple the world's nuclear energy capacity by 2050 at next month's COP 28, marking one of the most high-profile international commitments to nuclear energy in the 21st century. The U.S. delegation will join representatives from the U.K., France, Finland, Sweden and South Korea in calling on the World Bank and other lenders to expand their renewable energy lending criteria. The pledge will be accompanied by a similar commitment from the nuclear energy industry to triple their resources for power over that time frame.

FAA greenlights SpaceX's Starship relaunch

The Federal Aviation Administration on Wednesday authorized SpaceX to carry out its second launch of Starship, the most powerful rocket ever built, after a first attempt in April ended in a spectacular explosion. The FAA said Elon Musk's company has "met all safety, environmental, policy and financial responsibility requirements" after the mishap that marred the first orbital test flight of its next-generation spaceship.

Manchin considering 2024 presidential run?

Senator Joe Manchin, who announced last week that he will not run for reelection, said he would "absolutely" consider entering the presidential race. In an interview with NBC, the Democrat from West Virginia didn't confirm a definitive run but said he would consider entering the 2024 presidential race. Manchin said he plans to travel the country to see if there's an interest in creating a movement to bring Americans together.
