Eight US Marines were still being treated in a hospital on Monday following a military aircraft crash in northern Australia that killed three of their comrades. Twenty-three Marines were on board the Boeing MV-22B Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft when it crashed on Melville Island, north of Darwin, on Sunday during a military exercise. Authorities have launched an investigation into what caused the crash and efforts are also under way to recover the remains of the three dead Marines.

The European Union should get ready to admit new members from eastern Europe and the Balkans by 2030, EU chief Charles Michel argued Monday. The Russian invasion of Ukraine has focused minds in Brussels on the need for a new political momentum to support European ambition of several membership candidates. Michel noted that the countries of the Western Balkans, created out of the break-up of Yugoslavia, began their quest to join the EU over two decades ago.

Rapper Eminem has formally asked Republican presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy to stop using his music on the campaign trail.
