Heatwave hovers over much of the world

Record heat is forecast around the world from the US, where tens of millions are battling dangerously high temperatures, to Europe and Japan, in the latest threat from global warming. Americans are dealing with a powerful heatwave that stretches from California to Texas as a heat dome has been suffocating the southern states. Areas of China and Japan are expected to hit record temperatures, and regions of France, Germany, Spain and Poland are also baking in searing heat.

Alcaraz tops Djokovic in changing of guard

Carlos Alcaraz defeated seven-time champion Novak Djokovic to claim his first Wimbledon title on Sunday, shattering the Serb's dream of a record-tying 24th Grand Slam crown. The marathon match was the 20-year-old Spaniard's second major, signaling a generational shift the sport. Djokovic, 36, is the last man standing in the 'Big Three' now that Roger Federer retired and Rafael Nadal may be permanently sidelined.
