The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has deployed a team of disaster response experts for Sudan in the region to coordinate the humanitarian response as fighting rocks the country, USAID head Samantha Power said on Sunday. The eruption of fighting between the army and the Rapid Support Forces paramilitary group has triggered a humanitarian crisis and threatened a wider conflict that could draw in outside powers.

Biden to launch re-election bid on Tuesday

President Joe Biden is expected to announce his re-election bid on Tuesday after selecting Julie Chavez Rodriguez, a senior adviser at the White House and deputy campaign manager of his 2020 presidential campaign, to manage his 2024 election campaign. Biden could make a formal announcement as early as Tuesday. Biden, 80, is gearing up for what could be a tough campaign. His team is eyeing Wilmington, Delaware, where Biden has a home, as the base for the campaign.

Twitter reinstates media, celeb blue ticks

Twitter's blue ticks were reinstated on some media, celebrity, and other high profile accounts over the weekend -- a move protested by many of the recipients. Once a free sign of authenticity and fame, subscribers must buy blue ticks for $8 a month. Non-paying accounts lost their ticks on Thursday as CEO Elon Musk implemented the Twitter Blue strategy to generate new revenue. Less than 5% of the 407,000 profiles affected subscribed to the new service, and many ticks are being reinstated.

Disney worker caught taking 'upskirt' videos

A male employee of Disney's Hollywood Studios was arrested for allegedly recording videos up the skirts and dresses of female guests in the theme park without their knowledge. Jorge Diaz Vega, 26, faces video voyeurism charges after a witness reported seeing him recording an "upskirt" video of a female guest. He was caught by park security and admitted to taking videos of hundreds women for about six years.
