Florida strikes 11th-hour deal with Disney

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' new oversight board has discovered another "11th hour agreement" that allows Walt Disney Co to set its own utility rates at its Orlando theme parks, the board's chairman said on Wednesday. DeSantis, a likely Republican presidential candidate who has frequently attacked "woke Disney," said the company has long operated with an "unfair advantage" in the state through the district. Legislation filed this week would seek to invalidate the agreement.

Cuba's Diaz-Canel re-elected by lawmakers

Cuban lawmakers on Wednesday easily re-elected Miguel Diaz-Canel as president for a second term as the country faces one of the biggest social and economic crisis since Fidel Castro's 1959 revolution. Diaz-Canel, leader of the Communist Party - the country's only recognized political movement - won a landslide vote of 97% of the National Assembly, all of whose 470 members are aligned with the party. In a televised speech, he thanked cheering lawmakers for their support.

After shipping out more than five billion DVDs in its trademark red envelopes, Netflix has finally ended its movies-by-mail subscription service that launched the Hollywood streaming colossus.
