Death toll rises in shooting at LA dance hall

the death toll in Saturday's mass shooting at an L.A.-area dance hall has reached 11 after one of the four hospitalized victims died Monday. Ten people were pronounced dead at the scene at a dance hall in the largely Asian community of Monterey Park. The alleged gunman, a 72-year-old Asian male named Huu Can Tran, was found dead in a white box van from a self-inflicted gunshot wound hours after the manhunt.

Pelosi desk intruder latest Jan. 6 conviction

An Arkansas man who infamously put his feet on then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's desk during the Jan. 6 Capitol riots was found guilty by a jury on all eight charges he faced. Richard "Bigo" Barnett, 62, faces up to 47 years in prison. Also on Monday, a jury found four members of the far-right Oath Keepers guilty of seditious conspiracy, giving the DOJ another win in its quest to prosecute those who stormed the Capitol.

M&M's cancels spokescandies amid outrage

M&M's announced Monday that it will drop longtime "spokescandies" after criticism from conservatives ran rampant following a redesign of the colorful cartoon characters. Mars has used the cartoon characters for decades, dating back to 1960. In 2022, the company decided to rebrand its mascots, drawing from beliefs that certain characters were too provocative. The redesigns have caught the ire of conservatives.
