Pope appeals for peace; is Putin ready talk?

Pope Francis called for an end to the war in Ukraine and other conflicts in his Christmas message on Sunday, saying the world was suffering from a "famine of peace". Delivering his 10th Christmas "Urbi et Orbi" blessing, he also urged people to avoid letting the "shallow holiday glitter" distract from the true spirit of the holiday -- to help the homeless, immigrants, refugees and the poor. Border towns face migrant crisis on holiday

The winter storm only worsened the human crisis in El Paso, Texas -- one of many U.S. towns along the Mexican border coping with a recent influx of migrants. The city opened shelters at its convention center, hotels, and several new schools, but could not accept migrants without proper documentation.

Man lands on naughty list for stealing decor

A California man was arrested for stealing inflatable Christmas decor from multiple homes and establishments. Wayland Rudd was charged with possession of more than $950-worth of stolen property, including an inflatable penguin, a unicorn, the Grinch with a chimney, and a 7-foot-tall inflatable Santa on a motorcycle. He was released on bail and some of the stolen items have since been retrieved and returned.
