Twitter users vote out Musk as CEO in poll

Twitter users voted in a poll for Elon Musk to step down as chief executive of the social media platform, in a backlash against the billionaire less than two months after he took over. About 57.5% votes were for "Yes", while 42.5% were against the idea of Musk stepping down as the head of Twitter, according to the poll the billionaire launched on Sunday evening. Over 17.5 million people voted. Musk said on Sunday he would abide by the results of the poll, but did not give details on when he would step down if results said he should.

Congress races to pack 'omnibus' fund bill

Congress faces a tricky task this week as lawmakers try to use a $1.7 trillion government funding bill to also address other priorities, including tweaks to election rules, reforms to drug sentencing and a ban on TikTok from government-owned devices. Democrats and Republicans alike aim to tuck as many legislative wish-list items as possible into the "omnibus" bill funding the government through the end of its fiscal year.

Jury convicts Weinstein in L.A. rape trial

Former movie producer Harvey Weinstein was found guilty of rape in a trial in L.A. on Monday, a second conviction for the #MeToo movement target. The jury found Weinstein guilty of rape and other counts in the case of one woman, but acquitted him of charges relating to a second alleged victim. Weinstein, 70, already is serving a 23-year prison sentence after being convicted of sexual misconduct in New York.
