  • Investors pressure oil companies on 2030 climate targets

    A group of investors has tabled resolutions urging four of the world's top oil and gas companies to set broad climate targets for 2030, reviving pressure on the sector. Activist group Follow This said it had co-filed the resolutions with six major institutional investors managing $1.3 trillion in assets ahead of the annual general meetings of BP, Chevron, Exxon Mobil and Shell.

Jan. 6 committee holds final meeting today

The Jan. 6 House select committee will meet today for the final time, as members consider voting on criminal referrals in their final report to be released Wednesday. The report is expected to cover former President Donald Trump's culpability in his efforts to subvert the 2020 presidential election, including eight chapters of evidence involving Trump's efforts to sow distrust in the election process, put pressure on elected officials, and use rhetoric to encourage supporters to attack the Capitol.

Musk bans other social media from Twitter

Twitter announced Sunday it would no longer allow users to promote their accounts on a host of social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram, in the latest major policy change under new owner Elon Musk. The move comes after users told followers to view their posts elsewhere. Musk also said he would allow the journalists he banned to return if they deleted posts he falsely claimed shared his location.
