    Marqeta, a fintech company focused on payments services, is launching a suite of new banking products in a push to deepen its relationships with customers like Coinbase, Uber and DoorDash. The new "banking as a service" platform offers 40 new application programming interfaces that will be offered through Marqeta's existing bank partners to provide customers with "demand deposit" accounts, early-pay capabilities and instant funding.

Conservative leader Rishi Sunak is set to become the next British Prime Minister, replacing Liz Truss' 44-day reign amid a major financial crisis in the U.K. Sunak, 42, a former Chancellor and Treasury, became the leading Conservative candidate after Penny Mordaunt, his only competitor, dropped out of the race Monday. Sunak faces numerous fiscal and political issues, including party reunification, a faltering pound and a weak economy, while becoming the third PM in seven weeks.

DOJ targets China's 'subversion campaign'

Top U.S. justice officials accused the Chinese government Monday of a campaign by intelligence operatives to subvert the justice system and steal commercial secrets. Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray detailed how Beijing's spies allegedly harassed dissidents inside the U.S., interfered in the prosecution of a Chinese telecoms giant Huawei, and pressured academics to work for them. Two of the 13 indicted Chinese nationals have been arrested.

St. Louis school shooter stopped by police

At least two people were killed and seven injured in a shooting at a St. Louis area high school Monday morning before police fatally shot the gunman. A female student and an adult woman died at the Central Visual and Performing Arts High School, St. Louis Police Commissioner Michael Sack said. The gunman, who died at an area hospital after a shootout with police, was a former student at the prestigious school. "The shooter was quickly stopped by police inside" the district said.
