  • Toys 'R' Us celebrates grand reopening in time for holidays

    Toys "R" Us officially reopened inside some Macy's department stores over the weekend following a long battle for survival. Toys "R" filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in September 2017 and closed 735 stores. In August 2021, WHP Global announced that the toy retailer would open over 400 stores within Macy's in 2022. The move comes as the holiday shopping season begins.

Feds seek serious fine, jail time for Bannon

Federal prosecutors are seeking a sentence of six months in prison and a $200,000 fine for Donald Trump's former strategist Steve Bannon, who was found guilty of willfully disobeying a subpoena from the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. A jury in July found Bannon guilty of ignoring a subpoena that sought his testimony about Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 election, as well as records he may have kept leading up to the attack on the Capitol.

Kanye buys Parler after social media bans

Rapper and fashion icon Kanye West, who last year changed his legal name to Ye, reached a deal in principle Monday to buy conservative social media platform Parler. The announcement comes after West, 45, has faced scrutiny in recent weeks after a series of antisemitic and inflammatory comments through various social media platforms. Both Twitter and Instagram have since locked the rapper out of his accounts.
