Threats made against law enforcement after Trump search
The FBI and Department of Homeland Security have warned law enforcement agencies of an increase in threats following a search of former President Donald Trump's Florida home last week.The memo cited "a threat to place a so-called dirty bomb in front of FBI Headquarters and issuing general calls for civil war." Agencies have identified "multiple articulated threats and calls for the targeted killing of judicial, law enforcement, and government officials associated with the Palm Beach search, including the federal judge who approved the Palm Beach search warrant."

More than 10 million job openings with few left to fill them
"Help Wanted" ads are proliferating across the U.S. as companies struggle to deal with a worker shortage caused by the pandemic, a rash of early retirements and restrictive immigration laws. New data says more than 10 million openings went unfilled in June, while fewer than 6 million people were seeking work, even as employers try to boost hiring amid a frenzy of consumer spending.

Saudi Aramco reports record profits amid global oil crisis
Oil giant Saudi Aramco on Sunday unveiled record profits of $48.4 billion in the second quarter of 2022, after Russia's war in Ukraine and a post-pandemic surge in demand sent crude prices soaring. Net income leapt 90 percent year-on-year for the world's biggest oil producer, which clocked its second straight quarterly record after announcing $39.5 billion for the first quarter of 2022.

Another US delegation to Taiwan ires China

A delegation of U.S. lawmakers arrived in Taiwan on Sunday for a two-day trip during which they will meet President Tsai Ing-wen, the second high-level group to visit amid military tensions with China. Beijing has conducted military drills around the island to express its anger over House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taipei in early August. The de facto U.S. embassy in Taipei said the delegation is being led by Sen. Ed Markey, who is being accompanied by four House lawmakers on what it described as part of a larger visit to the Indo-Pacific region.

Musk trumpets Tesla's 3 million milestone

Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced on Sunday that the EV maker has made over 3 million cars and congratulated the Shanghai factory for its production. "Congrats Giga Shanghai on making millionth car! Total Teslas made now over 3M," Musk tweeted. Tesla began production of its first car model in 2009. The Roadster sports cars initially cost about $109,000. A Tesla in 2022 can be purchased for around $58,000.

NY pulls plug on care packages for prisoners

Doing hard time just got a little bit harder in New York state prisons, where the incarcerated will no longer be able to receive delivery care packages. The state recently rolled out the policy that restricts friends and family members from sending packages to the incarcerated, and also prohibits prisoners from receiving goodies during visits. The move is intended to stop drugs and other contraband from entering prisons.
