Biden to act on climate crisis as world burns

President Joe Biden plans to announce new federal measures aimed at the climate crisis Wednesday, but will stop short of declaring a climate emergency amid a global heatwave, a White House spokesperson said. Democrats and environmental groups have been calling for Biden to take aggressive actions on climate change after Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W. Va,  said last week was not ready to support key provisions in Congress. Meanwhile, much of the U.S., Europe and other parts of the world are suffering through a record heatwave with little relief in sight.

Americans now have a fourth COVID shot option as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention authorized a new vaccine from Novavax on Tuesday as new cases surge across the country.
