Trump gives Bannon green light to testify

Donald Trump's former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon said Sunday that he will testify before the House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack after the ex-president sent him a letter waiving executive privilege. Bannon initially refused requests from the committee for his testimony, but many critics said he was not able to claim executive privilege since he did not work at the White House at the time of the attack, as members of the committee also have noted.

Gas prices slowly falling as crude oil slides

The average price of gas in the U.S. dropped to $4.684 per gallon on Sunday, according to AAA. Gas prices around the world had surged due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, continued complications from the COVID-19 pandemic, and inflation. As of Sunday, the average price had dropped by 19 cents a gallon over the past two weeks and 24 cents over the past month. The price of crude oil has also dropped.

It's no coincidence that July 11 coincides with Slurpee Day as the convenience store chain celebrates its namesake date with free frozen treats.
