Top advisers to then-President Donald Trump told him that his claims of widespread election fraud were unfounded and would not reverse his election loss, but he refused to listen, according to Monday's testimony at a hearing of the committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol. The committee painted a broader picture of Trump trying to illegally hold onto power after his election loss on Nov. 3, 2020, when an allegedly "intoxicated" Rudy Giuliani urged him to "declare victory."

Drone delivery taking flight for retail giants

Amazon plans to start flying some purchases to customers later this year, the e-commerce giant said Monday, announcing drone delivery service that will debut in Lockeford, California and serve as a pilot program for the rest of the nation. Rival Walmart already offers limited drone delivery and recently announced it is expanding the service to six states in 2022 with the potential to drop off 1 million packages annually.

Flood closes Yellowstone amid heat wave

Officials at Yellowstone National Park said in a statement Monday that rangers closed all entrances to Yellowstone National Park due to flooding, mudslides, rockslides and extremely hazardous conditions that caused road and bridge failures. The dismal conditions for the nation's most prominent park come at the peak of the summer tourism season as a large portion of the U.S. is searing in record-setting heat.
