CEOs send letter to Congress on gun control

As Congress debates what measures it can take to address rampant gun violence, there is hope that some measures to rein it in can be passed. While the final package of reforms is still being hammered out, the U.S. business community has a message to Congress on gun reforms -- just do something. A letter signed by 220 CEOs urged the Senate to "take immediate action" to reduce the rampant gun violence across the U.S.

Gates warns next pandemic could be worse

Bill Gates says the world got “lucky” with the COVID-19 pandemic and thinks the next one could be “society-ending” with a fatality rate that is far higher than the coronavirus death toll. The billionaire philanthropist appealed for the need to prepare for the next pandemic to hit the world. Gates suggests creating a team of 3,000 infectious disease experts who would work throughout the world to deal with epidemic responses.

NASA launches research project into UFOs

NASA will launch a study with an independent group of investigators to understand more about unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), or UFOs. Unidentified objects sightings are fairly common but official information about them is limited. NASA said researchers will be “identifying available data, how to best collect future data and how NASA can use that data to move the scientific understanding of UAPs forward."
