Uber CEO calls for spending and hiring cuts to boost profits In an email sent to all employees, Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said the company will cut spending and hiring to focus on investor returns and shareholder confidence. "It’s clear that the market is experiencing a seismic shift and we need to react accordingly," he said, adding that from now on Uber "will treat hiring as a privilege and be deliberate about when and where we add headcount."
