Macron wins re-election bid over Le Pen

French President Emmanuel Macron won re-election on Sunday, defeating his rival Marine Le Pen and prompting a wave of relief in Europe that the far-right had been kept out of power. Macron won 58% of the vote in the second-round run-off compared with Le Pen's 42%. Macron is the first French president to win re-election in two decades, but Le Pen's result also marks the closest the far-right has ever come to taking power in France and has revealed a deeply divided nation.

First all-private space crew departs ISS

The first all-private astronaut team ever sent to the International Space Station departed the orbiting outpost Sunday night for a flight back to Earth, capping a two-week science mission hailed as a milestone in commercial spaceflight. The SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule carrying the four-man team of Houston-based startup company Axiom Space undocked from the ISS about 9 p.m. ET and is scheduled to parachute into the Atlantic off the coast of Florida on Monday at about 1 p.m. ET.

Floridians may be big losers in Disney bill

The battle between Walt Disney World and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis came to a head Friday when DeSantis signed into law a bill that revokes the Walt Disney Company’s special district status in the state. The move came in response to Disney's opposition of the “Don’t Say Gay” bill, a political move that Floridian taxpayers may pay the price for.
