Police make arrest in connection with subway shootings
New Yorkers breathed a sigh of relief Wednesday after police arrested Frank James in connection with the New York City subway shootings just over 24 hours after allegedly firing into a crowd and escaping the scene amid the chaos of the Tuesday morning commute. The 62-year-old James was the target of a manhunt before being apprehended and charged with one count of terrorist attacks and other violence against a mass transit system. James, who posted several threatening videos on social media, allegedly fired 33 rounds, shot 10 people, and sent dozens more to the hospital. Miraculously, there were no deaths.

How bad will inflation get? The worst may be behind us
U.S. inflation has gone from bad to worse, but the worst may be over. At least that's what Wall Street thinks following this week's release of key inflation data. The CPI, a measure of the cost of living for the average American household, rose at an annual rate of 8.5% in March. The PPI, which reflects costs for the production sector, rose to 11.2%. Those are among the worst numbers on record, but some analysts believe rock bottom can't be far away.

Toxic work environment plays heavily into Great Resignation
The U.S. economy has struggled through the â€œGreat Resignation,â€ as more Americans continue to leave their jobs in droves. The reasons are many, but a new survey found that most say they are doing so because of a toxic company culture. A new study that examined the motives behind why so many Americans were leaving their jobs found was that 33% of employees surveyed said they were considering quitting and 25% already resigned.

Ukraine takes credit for Russian ship blast

Russia said Thursday the flagship of its Black Sea fleet was seriously damaged and its crew evacuated following an explosion that a Ukrainian official said was the result of a missile strike. Russia's defense ministry said a fire on the Moskva missile cruiser caused ammunition to blow up, but Ukraine officials claimed the Moskva had been hit by two Ukrainian-made Neptune anti-ship cruise missiles.

Half of US warehouse accidents at Amazon

Nearly half of all recorded injuries in US warehouses last year occurred at Amazon, according to a new report by a coalition of unions. The e-commerce giant has boomed during the pandemic with soaring home delivery demand, but has also faced criticism over workers' conditions and its labor practices.The report said US Amazon workers sustained more than 34,000 "serious injuries" on the job last year, a rate more than twice as high as that at warehouses not owned by the company.
