  • Orders for US durable goods declined 2.2% in February

    Orders for big-ticket manufactured goods fell for the first time in five months in February amid a slump in business for civilian aircraft manufacturers, the Commerce Department said Thursday. The report showed durable goods orders fell 2.2% last month, driven by a shortfall in transportation equipment, which dropped 5.6%, and a 30.4% decline in non-defense aircraft and parts.

Uber, taxis strike deal to share NYC fares

Uber and taxi technology system provider Creative Mobile Technologies reached an agreement Thursday in a landmark deal between a New York taxi service and a rideshare company. The collaboration will allow taxi drivers to transport Uber passengers and vice versa. The deal is aimed at giving yellow taxi drivers a higher fare volume with access to Uber's massive customer base, while also offering Uber passengers more choice. Under the deal, Uber will integrate its smart-phone app with those used by the city's 14,000 iconic yellow cabs.

Oscars finally ready to get back to normal

The Academy Awards has gone without a host since Jimmy Kimmel in 2018. In 2022, there will not only be a host for the Oscars, there will be three. Amy Schumer, Wanda Sykes, and Regina Hall will host the 94th Academy Awards ceremony Sunday. All three have a comedy background and will host the ceremony in front of a full in audience. All three comedians will be hosting the Academy Awards for the first time. It will be the first time since 1987 that there have been three hosts.

Drivin' and Fryin': Chick-fil-A fuels fill-ups

Chick-fil-A will be soon serving up something new that won’t be found on its menu but rather at the fuel pump as it has partnered with renewable energy producer Darling Ingredients to make renewable diesel. Together the companies will convert Chick-fil-A’s used cooking oil from its more than 2,700 U.S. and Canadian restaurants into renewable fuel that will be sold under the name DAR PRO Solutions.
