  • Retail sales slow significantly in February amid inflation

    U.S. retail sales fell to a crawl in February, growing by only 0.3% in total after seeing a strong surge in spending in January. The Census Bureau released its latest data, showing anemic growth in advanced retail sales in February. The data fell only slightly below the Dow Jones projection of a 0.4% gain in the retail sector.

Zelensky's plea to Congress nets $1B in aid

Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky made a desperate appeal for help against Russia to Congress on Wednesday, and within hours of the speech, President Joe Biden responded by promising $1 billion in new weapons to fight "war criminal" Vladimir Putin's invading army. The Ukrainian president's video address from embattled Kyiv, bolstered by a montage of horrific TV footage of Ukrainian civilians under Russian assault and comparisons to American tragedies like Pearl Harbor and 9/11, delivered an emotional gut-punch to lawmakers from both parties.

US, Europe bracing for another Covid surge

As COVID-19 infections begin to surge again around the world, health officials in the U.S. are preparing for a potential increase in cases. Government data from the U.K. shows that infections are on the rise, as the seven-day average has increased to nearly 65,000 from 55,000 the previous month. The CDC reports growing amounts of COVID-19 detected in municipal sewer water across many parts of the U.S.

Netflix cracking down on password sharing

If you are among those sharing a Netflix password, the streaming service is on to you. Netflix is set to run a test trial in select countries that would limit the number of people on one account, and add an extra charge for those who share it. The feature will allow members with Netflix’s Standard and Premium plans to add up to two people outside of their household to their profile for an additional charge.
