    President Joe Biden gave rare praise to former President Donald Trump for getting a third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and the president credited his predecessor with helping develop the vaccines. During Tuesday's speech about his administration’s response to the spread of the Omicron variant, Biden celebrated the fact that Trump got his booster, adding that it was a rare common ground for them.

  • Secret Service pursuing those who misused pandemic relief

    The Secret Service reported that criminals have stolen over $100 billion in pandemic relief money, diverting funds from the Paycheck Protection Program, the Injury Economic Disaster Loan Program, and another program designed to send out unemployment checks out nationwide. So far, more than $2.3 billion funds have been recovered.

  • US current account deficit reaches highest point in 15 years

    The U.S. current account deficit widened in the third quarter by 8.3%, or $16.5 billion, bringing the final figure to its highest level in 15 years. The Bureau of Economic Analysis found that Q3 of 2021 produced a total deficit of $214.8 billion, accounting for 3.7% of GDP.

US population growth hits lowest level ever

The Covid-19 pandemic drove U.S. population growth to its lowest rate in history, due in part to deaths from the virus and a drop in immigration, the Census Bureau said Tuesday. The 12 months before July 1 saw the U.S. population grow by 392,665 or just 0.1 percent, "the lowest rate since the nation's founding." So much for the supposed pandemic baby boom.
